So much of this rings true for me! One example: "I marched in antiwar protests as a high school student in the 1960s and knocked on doors for McGovern in 1972. But I was basically a wannabe, mimicking older activists." We came of age just a few years after the activism of the late 1960s and didn't not experience that time in the same way as people a bit older than us did.

Thanks, Chris, it's good to know I wasn't alone in that. I think the Central American wars of the '80s affected me more than the Vietnam War, in part because of age.
