Oops, I see substack automatically pulls up my forthcoming blog and says it was launched eight months ago. It hasn't yet launched, just been registered for future use. I am hoping to start it up either in early October or after the November election. It won't feature brilliant and descriptive writing like Cathy's, but a variety of short posts with links to other sites.
Cathy - What an entertaining blog featuring one of my favorite people of all time! Getting your dad to the wedding was the best bridal gift ever. Taking us along on the father-daughter trip was a gift to your readers. Just this morning I was outside with cloth scraps tying up some drooping tomato plant branches. On one of his visits after I retired, your dad sneered at the little plastic clips I was using. "Just tear up cloth strips," he said. He was right. Fondly, Carol
I’m late..but a great story. Reminiscent of my family’s travel from California to our family roots in Oklahoma in the 50s and early 60s. We saw the beauty of the Western States and didn’t understand why we could not stop at any of the motels. We thought our father just wanted to drive straight through with us always eating on the side of the road. It was only later that we learned that as African Americans we could not stop and that our father was simply protecting us. …But all of those trips were absolutely priceless
Unfortunately, I have not. I have thought about it for a while. I’m encouraged that I should if no more than a short essay or an addition to our family history ? Thank you for sparking my interest. And actually somewhere I have a few on the road pictures.

What a wonderful story and I can just hear your Dad's voice now! He's a real treasure.
Really, really well done!! And even a picture I hadn't seen before to boot!! All of your articles are good, but this is one of the best!

Wow. Have you written anything about that journey, Adwoa? I'd be interested in hearing more.

Adwoa, I will email you about this. I'd love to see it happen.
